Motivate Your Child Book Review #HeartParenting

"Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: And the fruit of the womb is his reward."
~~ Psalm 127:3 KJV ~~

This is so true. We are blessed with two amazing, brave, smart, Christian daughters and one beautifully sweet new granddaughter!  One thing we want is for our grandchild to grow up with a solid Christian foundation and parents that will guide her well.

I recently was given the opportunity to read a marvelous book called Motivate Your Child  by authors Dr. Scott Turansky and Joanne Miller, RN, BSN.

Scott Turansky and Joanne Miller are the founders of the National Center for Biblical Parenting and the Biblical Parenting University.  They have authored numerous books, curricula and programs designed to strengthen our families.

This wonderful book addresses the motivation required to see to it that your child is guided by his / her conscience and knowledge of right and wrong. It calls for a strong foundation of faith, belief, and knowledge of G-d's Wisdom and Love.

In the pages of the book, you will learn:

• How to build a strong conscience to strengthen internal motivation
• How faith changes kids in practical, down-to-earth ways
• Ways to help self-focused kids think of others
• A strategy to help kids who tend to blame, rationalize, or defend
• Ways to use consequences for heart change
• Specific heart-based strategies to develop responsibility and initiative

As I was reading, I realized that I had succeeded in many of these areas... but perhaps, had failed in others. It is an eye-opener. To raise a child Biblically -- without guidance -- may be a difficult road. That's why this book is so important and why I will be passing it to my oldest daughter to use to guide her and her husband as they lead their daughter through life.

Motivate Your Child teaches your child to do the RIGHT thing without being told. It teaches them to examine their conscience and to abide by it. Sadly, so many children ignore that quiet voice of reason and responsibility.

"God designed the conscience to keep the heart going in the right direction."
